Dr. Daniel Alexander Smith
Lead Big Data Architect at 6point6, based in London, UK.
Previously worked on large-scale Knowledge Graph architectures for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning systems in the RegTech and Corporate Knowledge industries. I have worked with architectures utilising the industry-standard proven open source (primarily Apache), suite of Big Data tools, such as Spark, Hadoop, HBase, Sqoop, Zookeeper, Kafka and Elasticsearch. Continuous integration and automated deployment architecture including Git, Nexus, Jenkins, Sonarqube to build and test code, and Docker, Kubernetes, Mesosphere and DCOS for elastic deployment across clusters.
Previously I was a Senior Developer at Thomson Reuters where I created their internal Knowledge Graph of their core data assets across all industries, using standards such as RDF and SPARQL for data modelling and querying, and big data technologies including Hadoop and Spark for data manipulation and ETL.
I spent 10 years as a Research Fellow in the Web and Internet Science research group at the University of Southampton. I worked primarily with Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt and Professor Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and published over 60 peer-reviewed papers.
My areas of expertise include:
- Data Architecture
